Pipers
and drummers celebrate 100 years for Dorothy!
On
Wednesday 28th July the rousing sound of pipers and drummers
could be heard all around Brixham harbour, as members of the
Hill family saluted the 100th birthday of Dorothy Mable Hill,
with the procession along the quayside heading up Overgang
to join the planned festivities for Dorothy's centennial celebrations,
at Brixham Yacht Club.

and rescue
After
a busy Torbay Lifeboat Week with events throughout the week,
the Torbay Lifeboat Crew and Lifeboat Guild put together a
finale on Sunday 25th July...

Furzeham
Fun Day
This year's family fun day out at Furzeham Green was created
by Brixham's Young Volunteers using a very limited budget and
plenty of personal effort to engage the crowds in the entertainment
they helped to provide.

Summer
Show at the Scala
This
year's Brixham Horticultural Society's Summer Show took place
at the Scala Hall on Friday 23rd and Sat 24th July, including
over 300 entries appreciated by a large audience visiting the
venue over the two days.

It's
all Hap'Nin in 2010
The weather this year
was perfect for the Brixham Hap'Nin on Friday 9th and Saturday
10th July, with the crowds enjoying the warm and pleasant temperatures.
Whilst the bands on Friday night were watched by large crowds
from dusk till late in St Mary's Park, on Saturday families
enjoyed picnics and BBQ's, as the line up got underway at midday,
with two Brixham School Choirs performing songs from their latest
musical productions.

Delightful
Pie
Arriving
a little late this year, a large Gooseberry Pie was carried
by the Devon Belle on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway
to Churston station on July 4th where it was collected to be
paraded down to the village of Galmpton to be enjoyed by the
large crowds of villagers and visitors attending the Galmpton
Gooseberry Pie Fair 2010.

small colony of the rare Small Blue butterfly has been discovered
populating a new site in Torbay.

Trawlers
round the Bay!
This year the annual
Trawler Race got underway from Brixham on Saturday June 19th
, with two laps of the Bay and fun and festivities on the quayside
all raising money for local charities.

Repair
and Restoration Appeal
Brixham Battery launched
its 'Repair and Restoration Appeal' this week end. Over £500
was raised from our fund raising coffee morning held at the
Community Methodist Hall in Fore Street on Saturday and at our
D-Day commemorative event held at the Battery museum on Sunday.

Heritage Parade through the streets of the town.

a Record Breaker?
Well over a thousand
turned out to support the Guinness World Record Attempt in Brixham,
where the Brixham Buccaneers Pirate Festival set out to round
up the largest gathering of pirates in one place, on Sunday
2nd May.

of their pirate friends arriving to add to the Festival fun.

Huntington's Disease Association, out at Dean Prior Race Course
