Pipers and drummers celebrate 100 years for Dorothy!

On Wednesday 28th July the rousing sound of pipers and drummers could be heard all around Brixham harbour, as members of the Hill family saluted the 100th birthday of Dorothy Mable Hill, with the procession along the quayside heading up Overgang to join the planned festivities for Dorothy's centennial celebrations, at Brixham Yacht Club.

It's all Hap'Nin in 2010

The weather this year was perfect for the Brixham Hap'Nin on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th July, with the crowds enjoying the warm and pleasant temperatures. Whilst the bands on Friday night were watched by large crowds from dusk till late in St Mary's Park, on Saturday families enjoyed picnics and BBQ's, as the line up got underway at midday, with two Brixham School Choirs performing songs from their latest musical productions.

Arriving a little late this year, a large Gooseberry Pie was carried by the Devon Belle on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway to Churston station on July 4th where it was collected to be paraded down to the village of Galmpton to be enjoyed by the large crowds of villagers and visitors attending the Galmpton Gooseberry Pie Fair 2010.

Brixham Battery launched its 'Repair and Restoration Appeal' this week end. Over £500 was raised from our fund raising coffee morning held at the Community Methodist Hall in Fore Street on Saturday and at our D-Day commemorative event held at the Battery museum on Sunday.
