SPARKLING ARTWORK AT BRIXHAM

Chrissie Elsworth has just revealed her latest work in a vibrant exhibition at Brixham Adult & Community Learning Centre. She says “I want to show the exuberance and sparkle that life has. I just paint the things I love, to try to show the way they make me feel.”

Chrissie works with oils, acrylics, and watercolours bringing other materials into her work such as sweet wrappers in ‘The things you can do with sweetie wrappers' and a tube of tomato puree in ‘I want to touch you'. Themes include underwater, flowers, nature and the nude.

Her work has been greeted with enthusiasm by the adults attending the Brixham Centre with several pieces selling in the first view hours of the show.

Chrissie trained as an Art teacher in the 1980's but didn't enjoy teaching. She had several exhibitions in Lancaster , Manchester and London at that time but has not shown her work for many years until now. The impact of this show has made it worth waiting for.

The Adult & Community Learning Centre (ACL) in Brixham is accessible from Westover Close and is open 9.30-3.30pm daily and Monday to Thursday 6.30-8.30pm . Entry is free. Chrissie will also have her work on show at the ACL Centre during the Open Studios week of 15 th -19 th September. More details in the college prospectus available from mid August at all local libraries.
