Pete Cole and Alan Castle Memorial cups

This year the Pete Cole Trophy was won by Jack Daniels, and the Alan Castle cup was won by Steve Arr after the extra special darts tournament at the Sea Anglers, came to a close following 6 hours of play!

The tournament in memory of the two men, who were friends of Jack Daniels, saw the ‘Coley Cup and the £100 prize money go to Jack, following several rounds of play on Friday 23rd May and a final shoot out at 1.30am in the morning. Runner up John Tutton also received a cup and prize money of £50, whilst Steve for his highest checkout in the tournament received the Alan Castle Trophy and £25 prize, which he immediately donated to the funds being collected as part of this charity event.

Every year the tournament, raised money during the evening through entrance fees, raffle and donations, with £525 this year's total donated to the Friends of Shoalstone Pool. Usually the former wives of Pete and Alan each select a charity or local organisation for the money to be shared between, and this year Julie and Wendy both chose the Friends of Shoalstone Pool as the beneficiary.

Now winner of the Pete Cole trophy for a third time, Jack actually came up with the idea of the tournament in memory of his friend Pete who died in 2002 and has organised it since 2003, celebrating the fact that Pete and later Alan who died in 2006 were keen darts players, winning many matches at the Sea Anglers.

Jack said, “I have so many people to thank for helping make the evening such a success and thanks to everyone who donated on the night. I must say a special thanks to Martin Breyley, Robin Love of Harmony Profiles ltd, Mark Criddle for gifting the permanent tankard prizes for the winners, Brixham Jewellers for engraving the trophies for free, Ray Mitchelmore for loaning extra dart boards for the evening, Neil Little & Tim Clyburn for comparing the event, Shelley Rourke for help with the raffle and the Sea Anglers for providing the venue and their donations. All the money we raise will always benefit Brixham in some way. ”
