Brixham All Stars shine at Torbay Carnival Week

The Brixham All Stars won this year's trophy at the Torbay Carnival for the ‘Best Majorettes and Bands' after marching around Paignton and entering this years Carnival contest held at Paignton Green on Wed 29th July.

Brixham All Stars

The Brixham All Stars coached by Suzi Beardsley are made up of 30 girls from as young as 3 years old up to 15 and they have only been practicing together since February this year! The group was set up by and continues to be supported by community group Pride in Brixham, after many people including Chairman Mary Thompson, realised that local festivals and carnivals had no Brixham representatives, as far as majorettes were concerned.

When the group won Mary Thomson said,” I'm delighted that in their first year they have had such success and despite being soaked before the Carnival even started they were keen to join the parade.”

Trainer Suzi was also surprised by the win as she said, “The weather was horrific and it was hard on the younger members but everyone was determined to keep going. I was so proud when they presented us the trophy and £40, as we'd only been together such a short time.” 26 of the majorettes took part and the All Stars get to keep the cup for a year.

The group are now looking forward to there many other engagements this summer especially the Cow Town Carnival which is coming up soon on Saturday 8th August. Till then they will be practicing every Tuesday evening with routines created by Suzi and many moves contributed by the girls themselves, all of which is proving to be a winning combination for the Brixham All Stars!
