The club first opened in January this year, 2009 and was formed by Dave Johnson, a professional musician for many years.  The idea was to encourage anyone interested in the ukulele to learn and play together having some fun. Playing ukulele is for all ages, and there are approximately 20 members, with ages ranging from teenagers to senior citizens.

Dave says, “Many of our members have had little or no training, but after a short while have become very proficient.  Our repertoire ranges from "Singing the blues" to "Rocking all over the world" - with many "styles" in between.

After performing 1940`s war songs as requested for "V. J. day at Battery Gardens", Brixham, we are busily practicing more contemporary music for our next "gig" at the "Transitional festival" at Hollicombe Park in Torquay this month.

Anyone wishing to join us on Thursday evenings at 8.00pm at Brixham Rugby club, would be made most welcome.
We supply a ukulele, and teach you a few basic chords, so you can join us in a song.
A previous knowledge of music or the ukulele is not essential!”

Please phone Dave on 01803 852051 for further details.
