Rowcroft Hospice wants the brave and the fearless to sign up to go Over the Edge

This year's charity abseil will take place on Saturday 8th September but places are now available so we are urging those brave enough to sign up now for a once in a lifetime experience!

This event follows last year's hugely successful abseil off Haytor in Dartmoor- seeing for 40 people go over the edge and this year has the added challenge and excitement of going through the 220ft waterfall!

Laura Dillon, Events and Corporate Fundraiser at Rowcroft Hopsice said:

“We wanted to make this years event different and we are so excited to be able to use England 's highest waterfall which is right on our doorstep! Getting wet will be exhilarating and certainly more challenging. Places are limited so we ask all those interested to sign up now! ‘Over The Edge' gives people a chance to experience a challenge event and also raise vital funds for Rowcroft.”

The participants are in very safe hands, with CRS adventures, based at River Dart Country Park , back on board for this event. They will ensure you are fully briefed and kitted out before you go ‘Over The Edge'. It also promises to be a great day out for participants and their supporters- with competitions and entertainment.

The abseil is open to anyone- no experience necessary. As long as you are over the age of 11 you can enter. You can enter as an individual or as a team- so why not enter your sports team, your family, your class or your neighbourhood!

“We would love to see company, sports, pub or school teams entering this year- it's a great way to boost morale and have a giggle together.

The entry fee is just £15 for adults and £10 for the under 16's. All we ask is that you raise a minimum of £75 and children just £50. Or for a team booking you can book a block of 10 abseils for just £100- minimum sponsorship per person still applies. You can collect sponsorship through forms or online with your own webpage at www.justgiving.com an easy and efficient way to collect sponsorship. Closing date for entry for the abseil is the 3rd August and places fill fast.

Rowcroft Hospice is a charity, providing specialist care to people with life limiting illnesses living in Torbay and South Devon . The hospice was founded in 1982 and since then, with the support of local people, it has expanded to provide an even greater range of services. Care is provided, to over 1000 people every year, through our ward, hospice at home, community team, lymphoedema clinic and day services. This care includes physical, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. It costs £4.4 million to run Rowcroft for a year - over £12,000 per day. The NHS funds 29% of our costs, but the rest – over £3 million - is raised from voluntary contributions.

Anyone interested should contact Laura on direct line 01803 210835 or email abseil@rowcroft-hospice.org.uk
