Hey Diddle Diddle
As the name of this
collection suggests, Hey Diddle Diddle offers a range of uniquely
designed textiles for young children. Recently established,
the range is especially suitable for parents, wanting a whole
new look for their nursery or child's bedroom, or for those
wanting named items for their children to use. |
| |
Creating quality affordable nursery soft furnishings, Jean the
founder of Hey Diddle Diddle trained in textiles, gaining her
BA Hons Degree, before spending time teaching in secondary schools
and then settling down for a long period of time as a primary
school teacher. |
Jean says that through working
with young children she was encouraged by their sensitive and
bold artwork. Finding she had a desire to create something that
the children could have around them to enjoy , she too was inspired
to develop straightforward and colourful styles of images, placed
on the items she now makes. |
 |
|
Whilst Jean sews
her unique pictures on to the items using a mixture of machine
applied appliqué and hand embroidery, putting on lighthouses,
beach huts, boats, fish, cottages and chickens come from her
love of Devon.
After moving to Devon
from London she says, “ I try to reflect both the seaside and
countryside . If anyone is looking to kit out a nursery with
textiles, my work can create a whole scheme for very reasonable
price compared to major quality high store brands, all of which
can be made to order." |
 |
With an established range of cushions,
bags, aprons, and clothing for toys, larger items include quilts
and curtain, Jean says that she 'can personnalize them by adding
the names of the young person they are intended for.'
