Brixham Sea Rangers
S.R.S.Churchill
Brixham Sea Rangers S.R.S. Churchill
was formed in 1941 by A. Hopkins and A.E. Armitage. They both
retired in 1969/70 after giving the Crew an excellent start
with two wooden Gigs, 1 Dinghy and our lovely Headquarters on
the Breakwater Hard.
In 1977 the Sea Ranger
Association decided to start a junior section for 10 to 13 year
olds, which proved very successful. Our aim is to teach the
girls rowing, canoening, awareness of the sea, its dangers and
its enjoyment, all with safety. Also to be part of an organization
where team work and thinking about others is encouraged. |

After 66 years the Crew is still very
active, and is now the proud owners of 2 fibre-glass Gigs, 2 Dinghys,
4 Canoes and 1 wooden Gig, which has survived with a lot of TLC
at the age of 54. We would like to take this opportunity to thank
the people of Brixham for their support over the years. |
They
have never failed us. Also we would like to thank Brixham Somerfield,
for allowing the girls to fund raise in their store, and Sainsburys
for their support. Thanks to all their customers, the Crew have
been able to buy a much needed Canadian Canoe. This voluntary
Youth Charity is totally reliant on fund raising to ‘STAY AFLOAT'.
Planned events for 2007 include; swimming at Brixham Indoor
Pool, Cabin weekends & Fun Days, a day at Grenville House,
a weekend at T.S. AMORY London, a Fete on the Quay? Brixham
Hap' nin, various Rowing Regattas and of course further bag
packing.
