It's all Hap'Nin
in 2010
The weather this year
was perfect for the Brixham Hap'Nin on Friday 9th and Saturday
10th July, with the crowds enjoying the warm and pleasant temperatures.
Whilst the bands on Friday night were watched by large crowds
from dusk till late in St Mary's Park, on Saturday families
enjoyed picnics and BBQ's, as the line up got underway at midday,
with two Brixham School Choirs performing songs from their latest
musical productions. |

|
| The opening
with songs came from Bugsy Malone by Eden Park Primary School,
which were followed by The Church of England Primary School's
‘Don't stop believing' and ‘I dreamed a dream'.
Throughout the afternoon
Palm 105.5FM was on hand to entertain with lots of interesting
and energetic games which got children and their families involved
and there were many stalls, including refreshments, providing
smell of burgers cooking, and plenty of ice cream to cool off
with and a beer tent for the adults set up by the Skipper Inn.

| New
to the event were Jean Reid and her bear stall where she rescues
bears, cleans them up and then kits them out with their own
jumpers, name and a rescue profile. 50% of the money raised
goes a chosen animal charity at each event she attends. The
event this weekend was to raise funds for Torbay Cats Protection
and Jean's next event will be at the MacMillan Fund table top
sale in Scala Hall on 17th July from 9 to 1pm. |

|
| The
Brixham Lions stall offered a chance to win a Meerkat by choosing
5 keys and trying them in several boxes to see if they opened
a box to win one. They also ran tombola to win a wild animal
as they aim to raise funds for different charities and last
year bought Christmas Hampers for local people. |

|
|
| St
Mary's Park was recently acquired new children's playground
games and also the wild flower beds near the front entrance,
which made a colourful donkey track for Emma's Donkeys as they
took riders around the course. Children and adults were also
able to climb aboard the fire engine and test some of the equipment
aided by some of the crew members from Brixham Fire Station.

|
|
| The
high light of the afternoon was the Tug of War which saw 3 men's
teams, 2 boys' teams and a children's team with 15 plus on either
side! The men's team all tugged against each other, with the
overall winners ‘The Kingswear Farmers' winning the cup, which
was filled with cola! |
