| Young people from
Brixham have had the chance to take part in a series of workshops
with local professional artists to create these site-specific
installations. Opening this Easter it hopes to be something
both locals and tourists can enjoy!
On Saturday 5th April there will be a guided
walk starting at 10am at the Churston Woods sculpture, along
the way you will have the opportunity to meet people who work
at the heritage sites. The walk will finish at The Lighthouse
Visual Arts Centre at 2pm, where the competition results will
be announced and a photographic exhibition of all the artwork
on the trail will be exhibited. We hope to see you there!
(Prior to this launch you are invited to take part in a poetry
and art competition - please see Torbay Tourist Information
Centres further details and a map of the trail).
This successful project acts as a poignant case study of just
one of the ways Brixham College is using its specialist status
effectively to impact the whole community. Furthermore, it shows
how far the arts have become an important and intrinsic part
of Brixham's social milieu. The Heritage Lottery Fund and Torbay
Council have supported the project.
