Skills for Life is the Government agenda designed to encourage adults to brush up their English and Maths skills and obtain an up to date qualification. The nationally recognised qualifications accredited by the City & Guilds are a good addition to any CV showing potential employers or training providers' commitment to lifelong learning and personal development.

Liz was really pleased to meet and congratulate the successful learners and went on to say how excited she was to now have Adult & Community Learning as part of her department.

One of the students, Mark Rundle has just achieved Level 2 in Numeracy and is also studying the NCFE Certificate in Working with Children and young People. Mark said “ I needed to bring my qualifications up to date and found the Adult & Community Learning Centre was very relaxed and informal. As the students are all adults it was a good place to start as I didn't feel out of place and was happy with my level of study. I would recommend these courses to anyone wanting to change jobs or update their skills.”

Kelly Farndon completed her literacy course and as well as gaining her Level 2 certificate managed to produce her second child at the same time. That's the sort of commitment we like to see!!!

Lorraine and Gail are part of the cleaning team at Brixham College and were supported by their employers to begin improving their numeracy skills back in September. They received their Numeracy certificates and are now studying at Level 1.

New classes will be starting after Easter. At the first session you will be able to find out what level you are currently working at and how you can progress to obtain a National Certificate. Please call 01803 853302 for more information or to enrol.
