Eden Park celebrates their new library

Lifeboat David Hurford cut the ribbon and launched at the new library

On Thursday 26th April retired Coxswain of the Lifeboat David Hurford cut the ribbon and launched at the new library facilities at Eden Park Primary School.

 

Provided with a building in the school grounds, the interior and resources for a new library were developed by a volunteer group at the school, co-ordinated by Senior Teacher Deb Mawbey.

Mrs Mawbey was pleased that this huge project had taken 5-6 months and now offered another teaching space where staff and pupils could accesses the internet and tapes, as well as books.

Inside the New Library

Ms Mawbey said," We are grateful for the help the Devon Library Service have given us in setting up the new library and for the new library system with thumb print identification that allows pupils to easily access the library."

Pupils demonstrated the system to David Hurford before he officially opened the new building. Watching how pupils use their thumb print to register their books in and out, he said," The library makes handling their books very simple and is a great asset to the school."
