Karen Miller is a Brixham artist who enjoys joining together hundreds of pieces of driftwood to make beautiful organic sculptures including familiar images such as seahorses, fish and hearts.

Karen says, 'My driftwood hearts have become my trademark," and are very popular pieces.

Some of the driftwood sculptures are developed around functional objects such as clocks, lamps and mirror frames.

Nailing the pieces of driftwood onto hardwood backing is Karen says," Very intricate and time consuming work, as I fit the wooden shapes together rather like a jigsaw puzzle."

Branching out for Christmas she has also created a range of superb trees and decorative pieces. Karen's latest line in prints of her sculptural work are framed and are as bold and distinctive as the original works they echo.

Each year Karen explained that Devon Driftwood Designs donates a piece of work to Macmillan Cancer Relief.
