The
system has been designed to suit the growing numbers of people
who use the Internet, and is fast and easy to use.
Completing
an application online gives parents reassurance that they
have filled in the form correctly, as the system does not
permit basic errors such as accidentally selecting an all
boys' school for a daughter. Receipt confirmation is also
quickly delivered by email, providing peace of mind.
Cllr
Anna Tolchard, Cabinet Member for Children's Services said:
“We are pleased to offer this facility which gives parents
an increased amount of choice and flexibility when applying
for their children's school place. A large number of parents
in Torbay already use the council's website to research schools
and the online admissions form is just a click away from these
pages.”
Parents
can find out more about the school admissions system and apply
online at www.torbay.gov.uk.
The closing date, this year, for secondary school applications
is Friday 19th October and for primary school
applications it is Friday 12th October.
Parents
should read the booklets TIPS 1 Secondary School Admissions
2008/9 or TIPS 5 Infant and Primary School Admissions 2008/9
before applying for a school place. The booklets are available
online, or from schools or Children's Services at Oldway Mansion,
Paignton for those parents who do not wish to apply online.
For
parents who would like to apply online but do not have access
to a computer at home or work, free Internet access is available
in Torbay's libraries.
