Walk of Witness 2008
In Brixham whilst Good
Friday marks the start of another summer season for the local
community of traders, Christians gather in the town centre to
mark the final walk of their Lord Jesus Christ to His crucifixion
at Calvary. |

This year before
the group of silent witnesses paraded behind the large wooden
cross carried down Fore St by James, many met in the Methodist
Church to remember how Jesus gave up His life nailed to the
cross, He was made to carry.
As more members of
all the Christian churches in Brixham joined together to march
down to the Old Fish Market, a further service of remembrance
took place with everyone singing “When I survey the wondrous
cross on which the Prince of Glory died, again recognising how
Jesus had died for us all.
The Rev Tim Deacon
pointed out that ‘the simple open cross means Jesus is alive
today' and called for the ‘World to begin again with Jesus.'

Indeed
the two directions of a cross could be said to represent the
challenge we still have to do it our way, or do it God's way.
As Christ showed He was prepared to do the exact will of God
by surrendering His life to become a sacrifice for each one
of us………..
