with displays about Brixham's Fishing Industry.
Take your time to look
around the decorated church and the unique displays on Brixham's
heritage of fishing and fisher-men. Daily throughout the Festival,
except that the Mornings of Wednesday
27th to Friday 29th June are for schoolchildren
learning from experts about fishing and sea-safety and rescue.
Marine Art Exhibition
& Sale of paintings (from Sunday
1st July).
Boats, seascapes, marine
still-life. Locals artists exhibit their paintings on a maritime
theme. Browse at leisure and maybe take the opportunity to buy
a unique work of art from Brixham.
Children's Work:
Hundreds of colourful
entries for art and poetry competitions.
Brixham's Sailing
Trawlers:
Brixham's rich heritage
demonstrated by BM45 Pilgrim (1895) and BM76 Vigilance (1962),
lovingly restored and sailing again. Display about Brixham boats
lost during World War 1.
Built By Brixham
Men:
Display by Gordon Thomas
featuring photographs of shipbuilding at ship-yards on the River
Dart 1891-1965.
The Henry Frances
Lyte story:
Words, pictures and facsimiles
of original documents tell the story of All Saints first Vicar,
who wrote “Abide with Me” and “Praise, my soul, the King of
Heaven”.

Old Brixham:
An amazing collection
of picture postcards of Brixham in bygone days, loaned for the
Festival by David James.

Traditional Brixham
Harvest of the Sea Service.
Beneath Trawler Burgees
and fishing nets decorating the Church, join in the hearty singing
of traditional Sea Hymns, led by soprano Jan Lobb. Service taken
by the Revd Anne Burden, Vicar of St. Mary's Higher Brixham
.
Preacher: the Venerable
John Rawlings, Archdeacon of Totnes. Be there early, to hear
the choir sing before the service starts.
Collection shared with
Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen.

and the Brixham sailing trawlers”.
Colin Brokenshire with
a power point presentation of pictures and words about the restored
1926 Brixham sailing trawler. Event for the Brixham Branch of
the University of the Third Age, but all welcome. Admission
£2 (U3A Members £1).
Tuesday
3rd July : 200pm.
Cream Tea with the Seafarers.
Entertainment and reminiscence,
followed by a delicious Brixham Cream Tea. Veterans from the
Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen are our special
guests and the performers at this event.

Talk: “Jabez Lake – Who
do you think you are?”
Bridget Cusack with fresh
light on the life of a well-known Brixham character. Admission

Concert by Riviera Singers.
Melody and harmony from
Brixham's ladies choir and their soloist making a very welcome
return visit to the Festival.

Stirring sounds for the
third year running from the Staff Band of the Merchant Navy,
in high demand at National events but based in Brixham.
Great singing from Torbay
Police Choir. The two music groups combine to bring you a glorious
evening.

Join the congregation
of All Saints, the Lyte Memorial Church, for their Eucharist,
and sing with them hymns by their first Vicar. “Abide with me”

Trawler Vigilance alongside Heritage Pontoon.
Step aboard this wonderful
old Brixham Trawler, dating from 1926 and now lovingly restored
and sailing. A great atmosphere as the sun goes down, with a
