Rowan Molesworth, Chairman, Friends of Shoalstone Pool said “The Friends of Shoalstone Pool are pleased to have been chosen for the Brixham Co-op Community Scheme. The Pool is a unique facility that is enjoyed by both locals and visitors throughout the summer months and is free to use.

All funds raised and donations received are for the sole benefit of the pool and are used to purchase equipment and materials to improve the facility.

An example is the recent acquisition of a cement mixer.

The Brixham Co-op Community Scheme is an additional string to our bow and will help in both current and future projects to keep the pool as a great asset to the area.”

Sandra Everett, Head of Marketing, Plymouth & South West Co-operative Society said “We think it is great that The Friends of Shoalstone Pool have been chosen by our members for us to support. As a local retailer, we believe that the work carried out by the group to make sure that a local commodity remains usable and more importantly free is really valuable. It benefits locals and also shows visitors to the area what great facilities we have in Brixham.

We must stress that it is key that members use their Dividendplus card when shopping at Your Local Co-op, as now it is not only the member that will benefit, but the local organisation who will receive cash equal to 20% of the total points collected by all members when they shop in Brixham”

Three worthy groups were short listed by the Society based on the positive impact their work has on the Brixham Community. The three short listed groups for Co-operative members to vote on were, Brixham Does Care, Brixham Youth Enquiry Service and The Friends of Shoalstone Pool.

Every time members shop using their Dividendplus card they collect dividend points which can be exchanged for goods or paid into their share account. Over the next 6 months, in addition to this, Plymouth & South West Co-operative Society has promised to donate cash equal to 20% of the total points collected by all members to The Friends of Shoalstone Pool when they shop in Brixham.
