Rewarded for maintaining
Shoalstone Seawater Pool
At the AGM of Friends of Shoalstone Pool this year, one person
was picked out as having been an invaluable friend to Shoalstone
Sea Water Pool over the past 21 years!

Shoalstone is open thanks to a little help
from it's Friends!
In 2004 after a public meeting at which Torbay Council said
they could no longer guarantee all the necessary funding for
Shoalstone Outdoor Swimming Pool, a working group was formed
to help find ways of raising funds and to keep the pool in action.
From this the Friends of Shoalstone
Pool evolved and they are now a voluntary group very actively
involved in the life cycle of the pool. |
 |
Throughout the year they
do all the labour and maintenance work to cut the Council's
costs, whilst continue to fundraise in order to ensure the future
of this outstanding Brixham amenity.
Whilst the Council continues to supply
materials, the Friends provide the tools and hard work needed
to maintain the tidal pool which they are passionate to preserve,
so that all can enjoy this unique costal feature. |
| With a committee
meeting throughout the year they recently held an AGM open to
the public at Berry Head Hotel where they thanked everyone for
all their support throughout the maintenance work. |
|
They managed to get the
pool ready after clearing, repairing and painting in 2005 and
took on the task again in 2006.
