Nevertheless Rowan Molesworth, Chairman of the Friends of Shoalstone Pool was very optimistic about the season saying “If we have a summer like last year it will be very good at the Pool,” and Rowan mentioned that the lifeguards will be on duty from 9 to 7pm every day, all day this year. In the height of the season there will be 8 lifeguards on duty to cope with the safety of the public.

Nothing could deter Rhys and Jack from enjoying a dip on the first day of the season with the local pair agreeing “It was great a very successful summer last year and it should be good down here this year.”

With the New Manager Tony Herbert taking over this year he was looking forward to the season and pointing out that that the public should be able to identify a lifeguard by the yellow t-shirt and white baseball cap with the Torbay logo clearly visible.

A family from Bradford who have visited Brixham several times in previous years, were also excited about the pool being open now to the public. The day before daughters Gemma and Stacey had been for a swim in the sea but were keen to use this valuable community amenity and thoroughly enjoyed their swim.
